After recently filling out the survey (how about some results on SERRC.net?) I received a pedometer from Darcy. Here's some of my initial experiences:
- After 2 days, my first pedometer stopped working. It had only recorded about 7000 steps prior to that, which I know was probably incorrect, as I had ran over 3 miles the first day at a good pace, and it only recorded around 4000 steps. In addition I had done some other walking around town, enough probably to add up to another mile or two. I exchanged this one for another.
- I received a new pedometer and immediately went for a walk around the upstairs. With my stride it comes out to being 87 steps.
- Just in one hour of normal activity + short walk from my house after parking my car, I've already tallied 1100 steps, so I know my first device was wack.
- A one man team, I plan on tracking my steps as daily as possible on a Google spreadsheet and share it with people. Here's the chart (work in progress) that I'll post on a more permenant basis elsewhere:
I don't think this will alter my exercise behavior that much, but it's interesting to note the exercise equivalencies, as well as analyze when I'm most active, etc.
Keep checking in...

Good job Colin. I only used my pedometer twice. I need to start using it again, but there is no easy place to clip it on except for my jeans, and I only wear them once a week. The two I used it I racked up two miles each day in the office an around town for lunch etc.
