To find airlines, accomodations, and other useful visitor information for specific communities in Alaska (although there’s no clue as to how current the information is):
- Use your browser to go to the Alaska Division of Community Advocacy's Detailed Community Information page at http://www.commerce.state.ak.us/dca/commdb/CF_BLOCK.htm
- In the first list, select a community.
- In the second list, select the “Facilities, Utilities and Services” data type.
- Click the Get Data button.
- Scroll down to the Visitor Accomodations/Information section. It includes Airline Services, Taxis, Car Rentals, Accommodations, Visitor Attractions, and Cultural Events. The page will also have other useful information, including availability of a gym or pool, library, radio station, TV station, etc.
For airlines websites, see http://serrc.net/AirlinesServingAlaskaDestinations.
To learn more about a community, go to the Division of Community Advocacy's Community Information Summaries at http://www.commerce.state.ak.us/dca/commdb/CF_CIS.htm.
If you'll be traveling through another city or village on the way to your final destination, check out the Travel Tips for that school district, too (especially if you're planning an overnight stay).
